Hi All,
This is just a heads up for some offers on the following:
Have contacts with a Far Eastern supplier of digital photo frames who is selling from the UK via web.
Have a full list of products (pdf) and discounts available for members. Please contact me for details if you are interested. I am currently trying to increase the trade discount to Forum members and will keep you posted on developments. Was thinking that a small amount could be donated to help run the Forum if that can be arranged with Martin.
Finally, I would also like to point out that there is no financial incentive to myself in any of this but was hoping we could assist Forum funds if possible.
Here is the web site:

Thanks for that mate, im actually considering fixing one on either side of my windows on my estate car, rather than a static poster, that way images change and whilst sat up at school waiting for the wee boy, might attract some customers (obvioulsy easily removed ones for evening when car is parked up)

I dont sell these at the moment cos i don't want to give away image files.
Is there a way to load photos onto the photo frame or card without giving acess to the images for printing ?

Do these run straight from a memory card or can you process the images in photoshop (for example) before displaying them? There is only so much editing you can do in-camera and it would be nice to display "finished" pieces... is that possible? Just wondered if they could run off a CD or something

If you resize them to the size of the display (800x600 for example)
then they wouldn't be able to get a decent print out at that
resolution... I would think...

I've not seen any use CD yet.. They usually use a SD card...
You can load the images in, edit them and put them on the
card again so you can resize, crop etc easily..

Im not sure i would be selling the frames to the public, i think if anything they would be used for advertising i.e placed in a shop window with a continous change of photo for potential clients to see. Or in the home as a wife ornament, she would love one of those.

hmmm for in a studio I'd say they are too small for details
or in a shop winow...
You need a proper LCD screen for that or a HD TV.
For personal "home" stuff the'd be fine...
Or you COULD Super glue the SD card in the back
so no one can get it out and block the USB cable
connection so no one can edit or mess with the
photos on the SD card...... Harsh yes but if you give
a "free one" for the bride/groom, it might be a selling point
on the understanding that they cnanot use it for anything else...
i/.e change the card as it's glued.. :)

I use one in a local venue to show a selection of wedding images.
The images are on a compact flash card and are reduced to 800px on the longest length (at 72DPI)
I think there great for advertising - I wouldnt be selling them to the Bride & groom though.

Hi,
Contact them directly and then ask for a discount quoting the "Forum". Prices appear to be reasonable.

Interestingly I flogged one of these recently.
I got an email from a firm at the right time and found I had a 3 hour gap at a wedding where they didn't need me and wanted a break from photography so I pitched an LCD at them for a "reasonable" sum. Of course the gap became 90 minutes...
Anyway, I whacked all the day's shoot onto my laptop, copied them to Lightroom and did some pretty down and dirty editing. 45 mins later I had a 10 inch screen showing highlights of the day (about 50 snaps). I took it to the B&G's room - they were both in tears at the end. Then I put it on a table at the reception. There was a crowd round it all night and 3 couples asked for cards because they are getting married soon.
I later found the B&G took it on honeymoon and watched it over and over and over. Which is nice :Dm
Oh and re the 800 X 600 thing. Don't believe it. I tried printing off some pics I had posted to the web at 800X600 and about 80K. Most people would have accepted the 6X4s without a second glance. As with all things like this once the file's out of your hands that's it. Make sure you're happy with whatever they pay for it first time round because reality says there won't be a second....

Here in the US (well LA mainly) the photographers are giving clients in their wedding packages "IPODS" which also holds images for viewing. So the client has their wedding day images handy at all times instead of big albums. Great advertisment, the couple have it on them all the time show friends, family, co-workers and great word of month for the photographer who photographed the wedding. Make sure you have in either the opening or closed screen saying your studio name and the photographers name.

Hi,
£200 for an Ipod Touch added to the price of wedding pictures - how do you sell it to the client - unless they really want/need an Ipod?

Sorry for suggesting you were from LA - it's hard to read the accent on a post
I used to use Video iPods (aka iPod Classic) and PSPs. PSP have a much better screen and wifi, iPods can plug into the telly and, well, are iPods.
Then the iPod touch came along and blew my mind. Seriously, until you pick one of these up you have no idea just how good they can be. Amazing screen and stuffed full of features. I've just changed my £3,800 package to use the touch instead of classics. But watch my blog (http://www.myweddingstory.co.uk/blog/) in the next couple of days for an amazing offer......
BTW don't even think about the brand. Use something by Archos etc and you will spend 10 mins explaining what it is. An iPod's an iPod.

Sweet.... thanks for the link... now I just have to fig. out how to put this item in my largest pk. and up the price to adjust for it. Thanks all....
Oh, and on the photo frame... I saw another photographer use one at a mall in a display case.... it was kind of neat! She had a lot of really nice photos in frames showing off her work and then the Photo Frame running so you could view more images.
