Lately (last 8 days or so) I have been having a bit of trouble with the forum, basically every 7-10 threads I look at then the forum clams up on me and I get Firefox/IE page not responding message..and have to wait about 10-15 minutes for it to start loading again. This is on both browsers and inbetween I can still view other web pages. Tis why I haven't been around too much of late.

PS How did you get on with the College application? Just about at the end of my first year now and can honestly dsay its been bloody gard work and expensive! One of the girls in my class calculated that its cost her 12K for the 1st year!!! I reckon I'm not far behind......But its been worth it though Mate. Learned so much.

Hi Ross,
Same with myself. Other sites appear ok. Did not think it was the Forum pages but you might be changing my mind - of course we might all be NTL who are having the problem.

I don't visit the forum as much as I used to as it just takes to long to bring up the pages, and forget about trying to submit a reply. For the time it takes for the page to come up I've made myself a cuppa and finished two tim tams off. I would love to reply to some of the amazing pictures on the forum but it's just too frustrating waiting, and then we you do write a reply and you hit post it looses your message in cyber space.
Anyway I'm off to buy more tim tams :wave4:

Ive not heard of any lock ups - I do know the forum sometimes takes a while to open pages. Ill look into it.

Exactly the same with me.
Sometimes I cant open the forum at all although all my other web sites open first time.
Many times after either posting pics or just offering crits, the site just stops working and my posting has washed away.
If I try shutting down the forum and restarting it, all I get is "Page cannot be displayed".
Sometimes it is half an hour before I can get back on although all other sites are OK.
I am on NTL broadband too. with internet explorer. Tried Firefox but its just the same.

Hi Jim,
you are having the same problem that I did a while back with the longer replies and posting pictures. Solution is to tick the little box 'remember me' (next to user name box) when logging on initially for all but relatively brief replies. This seems to overcome a kind of ‘time limit’ for posting, which I havent timed but is sometimes too short otherwise with a longer reply or posting pictures. (Bindii told me about this when I had trouble once).
Have broadband too.
Otherwise up till now never any trouble for opening pages or loading pictures, here on this site, as yet.
It does happen to me sometimes tho' sometimes when I spend a long time on a site , not moving that much, that the internet connection becomes very slow and doesnt seem to connect up automatically again to move on. This seems to be a kind of 'now and then' occurence, completely irreguliarly happening and with no particular reason either for it to happen. When this happens I reopen the application.. in my case ‘Safari’.. and come back to my bookmarked page, then it sometimes takes off again.. or otherwise if still slow or having the air of trouble re-connecting I restart the computer, return to the page, and it will set off okay again.
Think (whilst being extremely non technically minded), must be something that happens with broadband sometimes (??)..

Thanks for your information Olivia.
I have always had the "remember me" box ticked ever since I joined the forum
but it makes no difference.
I don't have a lot of patience and if it packs up then I am not prepared to keep restarting my computer to get the site up again. I have tried this in the past and it doesn't always get me back to the forum although all my other sites are available.
It could of course be a fault with NTL/Virgin or my computer but I can still get all other web sites.
I shall just do the same as I always do, keep reading and posting until it freezes up then I switch off.
Thanks again,
Jim

Using FireFox2 with few problems. Very occasionally I'll loose not only the forum but my ADSL completely. As I'm some distance from the BT exchange I've just assumed the system gets overloaded and gone for a cuppa. Usually OK when I return.

Firefox causes me problems too, but not here, on another forum it just crashes out and i have to do a restore session each time, it doesnt interfere with my broadband though, mm weird.

blimey what a turnaround.. for long enough it was I who had a job logging in etc etc...but since i got BB its been fine.......occasionally i get what i think is called "drop-out" when the system seems to disconnect itself; but that is very infrequent and only lasts a short time.
i still think that the google ads maybe the prob.. as when they first started i defo noticed a slowing down; but then i was on dial-up:icon_twee and put it down to that

Um....other sites have Google ads and are quite quick. If using FireFox make sure you have the latest version, I've found using an old version can cause problems.
