Hi All,

Given the rising amount amount of "Glamour" pictures in the Forum would it be posible to start a new section dedicated to the genre.

Quite a difficult subject to master but I am now being asked to provide this as a "memory to look back on" by husbands etc.

Even girls who "do not want to be models" are asking for more "Glamour" in their pictures.

Would be good for crits and generating ideas along with lighting ideas etc.

Your thoughts on the matter. :crigon_04

hmmmmmm

I'm not sure... We don't want it turning "tacky"
and just an excuse to post "boobs" and stuff..

If people see this as an area it might the excuse
they need to just post anything..

But then we moderators do keep a careful eye on these
images and if they were all in the one place, it would
be handy...

Hi,

There is a fair amount of work out there to produce these types of pictures and I was not thinking anything stronger that glamour.

No images you might consider pornographic for example. It was hoped we might get some good ideas (there already ahs been some good work already posted) for the posts.

Hard to track them down when you are looking for some ideas on lighting and posing.

Maybe if it was invisable until registered or if they were unable to post without a mods approval until they've made 100 posts or similar...

I kinda think its not a bad idea, instead of having to label every nude shot with a ** nude shot"" in title the glamour room as such can have it in its main title, and then all shots are under one roof so to speak. Im thinking of a mono nude that was posted in mono section, not portrait etc.

"Nude" would overwrite "Mono" in that case..

If there was a Glam section, all nudes where
breast or that were shown, would be placed there...

An interesting one. I know Martin is not keen to over-complicate the site. There are - of course - pros and cons, as usual. I feel (not too strongly) that leaving such posts where they are makes the point that 'glamour' is just another element of photography, rather than something that should be given a niche position. I do agree with George M and all the comments made.

Yeah for the perverts...*nods*

Seriously though....I have been a member of other forums where they had their so called 'glamour' and nude sections and honestly everytime it turned into a free for all for the....dare I say...less mature 'togs'....to frequent...many of them with tissues in hand I am sure...one of the forums made it that members had to have more than...if memory serves me correctly...400 or something posts (alot of them had to be your own work) before you could apply to have access to this area...this was discouraging for serious newer members who are genuinely trying to get into this genre of photography...

and as surprising as this may sound to you all coming from me...I would so hate to see the forum get a rep for having a 'section' here of just nudes and or glamour photography...cause lets face it everyones version of tasteful is a little different...besides we get enough bad 'glamour' stuff posted as it is without encouraging everyone out there with a camera to start posting nekid shots of themselves all over the boards...

well thats unless they are like really cute and stuff...;)c

I can't see why we can't just keep on posting this kind of stuff in the portrait section...as long as its not too tacky like...but maybe the poster should have something in the title to warn it contains nudity etc to save me being busted at work by my boss looking at nekid pics (of a girl none the less!) again...

worth a thought - I would of course put myself forward as chief moderator of the section - I only think it would be fair.

I would of course need an assistant moderator - please send cheques to .......... etc

Keep posting and lets see where we go with this.

If the glamour shots are put into a seperated area it smacks and bit of the "top shelf" syndrome and do we really want that..... as has been said above do we want to become known for having an area, for what could be seen by some as "mucky "photos...... the human figure is art and we are artists let us keep the glamour shots out in the open where they belong...... and then everyone can monitor them and we are hiding nothing.

the appeal of such work is in its photographic merit and not its "titilation" ( i know ,i know !!!) value ..... so leave it where it is.............but i would say the standard needs raising a bit ...come back "ADE" we need you in hereXXXPenguinXXX

I know of another forum that had a glamour section and it runs very well, all the comments and pics are still of the top standard, and very polite canon forum btw.

Personally for me i think it would only be a positive move...as long as it is moderated ok and certain rules are set beforehand. There are other forums with a 'glamour' section and i wouldn't consider those to be full of trash so it can work..

...come back "ADE" we need you in here

I know i know i've been quiet lately, i been busy with other projects... Keep your eyes peeled though :Dm.. I've got a bikini swimwear shoot on the beach in Newquay on Sat if the weather holds up ok and also a girl/girl shoot the weekend after in the studio :Dm....

Hi,

All our posts are out in the open and any other section would not be seen as anything else. You could only call it top shelf if many others could not access the content.

You would have thought in some replies I had started this as some sort of "porn" for posters campaign.

Will we suddenly have an influx of new members all eager to join oor new glamour section? No - I don't think so either.

There is no doubt we are seeing an increase in this type of picture and I have to say the vast majority are clothed. Very very few are even topless and I am not wanting, or wish, to have any nudity that looks tacky or lacks good taste.

I am being asked as a photographer to produce "Glamour shots" - this is very new to me - and i am not even shure what the client wants. My first session is next Friday, (with other bookings planned)and for me it will just be a normal "portrait" session which in this case will be led by the subject.

Even had a bank manager wanting some done for his wife as a special birthday present - he says "she does not want to be a model but wishes some pictures she can look back on when she gets older."

They idea for a glamour section came from me beacuse it was very difficult to find (search) this style of picture within the Forum to get some ideas on posing, lighting etc.

Glamour does not mean tacky or without clothes - some of the best glamour work I have seen "hints" at nudity/flesh but never supplies it.

It would be Moderated in the usual manner and any material not allowed at present would swiftly be removed. If you are really paranoid about this then let the posters seek approval prior to the images going public.

Get your minds out of the top shelf, I do not wish to start a get your clothes off section for the dirty mac brigade - bye the way - who is going to admit to that anyways> Some of the work produced already in the Forum has been excellent and I can truly say I have not found it tacky - we all need to learn and many of the pictures have been put up for crit - as quite a few have offered advice.

No top shelf, no tacky pictures, keep it moderated and keep it real. Now who has some good lighting ideas? :thanks:

Hi,

No top shelf, no tacky pictures, keep it moderated and keep it real. Now who has some good lighting ideas? :thanks:

2 lights (a 3rd if you have it as rear fill) with one turned down low as a fill the other creating shadows,. Pose her to hide the 'less flattering' bits in the shadows and loads of PS work but keep it looking natural ;-)... She'll be happy...

I too am getting quite a few of requests like these, also pretty big in America is sexy pre wedding pics of the bride for her hubby to be, it's only a matter of time until it becomes popular over here as well..
