The old PC is starting to hate me, when I got it it was for the sole intention of getting online and the odd download from iTunes, so she only has 256mb of RAM and a 20 gig HD. My laptop aint much better with 512 mb RAM and 40 gig HD. Both are fine for general use, but as soon as I load anything with the name adobe all hell breaks loose. So I'm looking for suggestions for a good but not too expensive setup to deal with photoshop etc?

Go for a Dell package mate (one of the offers in the paper) but when you call don't accept any of the upgrades they recommend. (buy them seperate afterwards if you need them)
The reason i say this is my business account manager at Dell has advised me that Dell actually advertise these at a loss but try to bring it back into profit by getting you to upgrade during your order (i.e doubling the memory etc).
If you stick to your guns you'll get yourself a bargain.

lol ross, i used the equivelant laptop for ps editing etc for 4 years same spec as urs, loved the portability of it, till i run ps on the pc and told wife to have laptop as present lol
Good luck with finding something, also think of building urself, i built my complete system for 350 quid, and was fun, although some great deals with dell etc as Ade said and premade comps.

Cheers for that guys, will have a look through the local rags to see if there's any deals going.
Barry, I would love to build one mate, but I know for fact bits would be lying about for months until I found the time to do it.

and to building a pc mate, it takes less than an hour, put processor on motherboard, fix heatsink, put motherboard in tower, all teh screws are there, plug in power unit, put hard drives in with their cables, put in graphic cards and sound cards unless ur using onboard which is even faster.
Definetly worth considering, usually when im getting a pc for somoene as i find myself helping everyone round here, il tell them to buy the bits, give them the list of stuff, away they go and literally an hour to get it up and running and install xp.
What is the spec of ur old pc, might be worth upgrading, u can crank up the ram, upgrade hardrive, buy a graphic card and ur sorted

Hmm in that case I'll definately consider that..least that way I can get it to the spec I want rather than having to compromise on some things.
The old one is only fit for a skip, it was a throw together job a PC place in Glasgow built me from parts lying around for 100 notes. Surprised it's lasted well over 5 years.
