for those learning about shutterspeeds and apertures, it lets you change settings giving instant results to do comparisons.

Did you try 1/4 at f22? You even get a bit of camera shake! Obviously hasn't got image stabiliser in that camera.
Fun to play, but not much real value unless you carry an internet enabled laptop with you to use. And why do that when you can change as much as you like and see the result instantly on your digicam, or even use one of the auto modes?

Indeed but it gives those an idea of whats happening in camera without having to run out taking wads of shots :Dm

I disagree, it gives you a good idea of what you can handhold and what you can't. The difference between taking the tripod and leaving it at home. As for the LCD, I've had plenty of pics that look sharp on it, but when viewed later on the pc they're soft as a babies arse.
