Hello!

I've been having a play with this portrait but I'm just not getting it. Any help would be hugely appreciated here.

As you can see I was not paying attention to the tie and you can clearly see the chap's collar stud. The lighting on his face isn't great and I also think the laughter lines around the face are a bit too prominent.

Any takers?

a quick play here, i selected around the knot, copy and pasted as a new layer then used the move tool to move up, then used the history tool to bring back the shirt collar over the knot, cloned out the old knot line by cloning from a section of tie close by.

Then used the spot healing tool zoomed right in to remove a couple of the prominent laughter lines, finally a slight sharpen to the image.

Just a quick play though but for a general idea, hope this helps a bit. teh tie could still do with a slight tidy down one side

Hi,
Not sure this improves any more than what has been previously done;

I have had a fiddle too... not bothered with the tie as others sorted that for you..... i added brightness and contrast and played with the saturation to get it as good as i can.

the lighting is too far round to the sides.. i can see you have 2 lights so one would go at 45deg to his left at about f8 and the other behind your camera at about f5.6, both at about 45deg elevation to the eye level.

also he is too square to the camera which makes his broad shoulders look even broader..... although the crop helps a little...... as i hope this does

My efforts

I like the "selective colour" layer, it can help give a little punch to some images.

I also took a shot at it. I'm in the process of shooting an all nude woman's calendar of older women and have been using the healing brush a lot. So I took some years off him and cloned the tie up to his neckline.

I'm note sure if you meant that to be funny...but I can't stop laughing :-)

BTW so impressed with some of the PS skills on the forum!

The youngest so far is 51 and photographed one today that is 60 and they want pounds off as well as some wrinkles. Thank God for the healing brush.
