Chums,

Newbie Q this. Can't find anywhere logical to ask this Q so please move if in the wrong place.

Is there a description of how the different comps work? (the Competitions section).

Can?t find any FAQ or sticky to explain how each runs, time scales etc. I?m fairly OK with the Challenge, Caption and SYTYCDB sub sections whic are self explanatory however what are the ?Rules? for IOTM & SOTM.

Also how does IOTW (on the home page) work.

TIA, Dave :)

How they run....Ummmmm...we kind of make it up as it goes I'm afraid...

the challenges change according to interest...for instance the treasure chests challenge is dying a slow painful death so I will have a think about changing it to new kinda challenge soon I think...

The image of the month this is basically that you post an image that you have taken within that month...preferably a nice one...lol

Subject of the month is so that we can choose a subject for us all to shoot...its a way of making us step out of the box....well those of us that actually do it that is...

The other ones arent exactly comps...more like fun activities to test our skills etc...

Btw..there arent any prizes for our comps.....the only prize is the chance to gloat over your winning status for a while....

and the Image of the week is chosen by us...well I think technically it is supposed to be chosen by Martin....but if one of the mods see a pic that they think is deserving of the award we usually will point it out to Martin...:)

Hope this helps...

TVM ?. all sounds pretty cool to me

Prizes! ??? to be able to feel I could possibly dare to post an image in such exalted company would be prize enough for me (Hey ? do I get a prize for that exceptionally smooth remark? ;)c )

So am I right in thinking and that the running order goes something like ??.

SOTM for June is:

A poll in the first few days of the June to decide the subject
Get out there and shoot the subject
Upload a single image before midnight on the last day of June
A poll after the end of June for us all to vote on our fav pic

IOTM for June is:

Upload a single image, taken in June, before midnight on the last day of June
A poll after the end of June for us all to vote on our fav pic

Dave.

You've got it right except for one thing. For some reason we don't vote at the end of the month for the subject of the month!

Took me a while to work it out too when I first joined.

TVM for the info folks ... shouldn't it be posted up in a sticky somewhere though? I know it's not a trerribly serious thing but it would let newbies like myself know what to do :)
