In in the market for a 67mm UV or Skylight filter for a new lens, mainly for protection of the lens element..I always fit one.
My question is which make? I have noticed the Hoya Pro1 Digital filter seems flavour of the month but is well expensive, even on Ebay they are over £30.00
Are they worth it? or should I just my my a normal Hoya filter for £12.00 ish?

imho, any will do as uv filters do little to enhance your image, and if its mainly for protection of the lens who cares :P

I work on the principle that it doesn't quite seem right to spend a fortune on lenses & then put crap over the top of it!
I use Hoya Pro HMC - expensive but not compared to the lenses - and I've gone through two on lenses that have been dropped: filter smashed, lenses fine. I get them through a Hong Kong-based seller on ebay at reasonable prices.
But I haven't done any tests to see if there really is a difference between the performance of these and cheaper ones.

Cheers ALDP, This is my thinking too. I think I will buy the Pro one, for the same reasons you describe..:icon_nice
