Alright folks! New to this forum, not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes...

I've just bought a Vivtar ultra wide and slim camera after reading about how it produces lomo/holga type images on 35mm film. Now i keep reading everywhere that i need to ask for the film to be cross processed in order to get the desired effect I am looking for. I've read about E6, C41, slide negative etc processing which means nothing to me. I've been into some of the local labs and asked if they can xpro the film. Most have said they cant but some have said they can do it, depending on what kind of film it is - they can do it from slide to negative but not the other way around.

Now they might as well be speaking chinese to me. I've been using digital for my photos and dont know anything about using film. I havnt got a clue what kind of film i am using - it is just the cheapest iso400 35mm film that Tesco sold me.

Can anyone explain to me what kind of film I will probably be using and also tell me what i should be asking for when i go to get the film (cross) processed?

Right i've finished the roll of film on my lunch hour and have found out its C41 film. Can this be cross processed to get the effect im after? If so, what should i be asking for?

Hi Morphusmax,

You need to have that film processed as E6 so it will look like a slide/transparency.

The usual film to use is a transparency/slide film, that is, its name will always end in 'chrome'. ie extachrome (kodak) fujichrome (fuji).etc

When using these, if you put 400 speed film in the camera, set your camera ISO to 200 (ie over exposing by one stop) and then have processed as you would a negative film. ie a minilab and get a bunch of prints back.

Hope that helps.

try shooting images with strong dominant colours for dramatic effects which are even stronger when xprocessed

Hi David,
Nice to see you guys as well!:wave3:
Sorry for not being around much but I'm swamped with business stuff.
Launching a new company shortly and the last month or so has been one meeting after another. Anyways hope I have more time in the new year.
We have a deadline for a new website to go live before the end of the year
then the marketing begins!!
