If you can get to Compton Verney just south of Warwick and see the Van Gogh exhibition, mind blowing.
Not sure wether it's already been shown in Edinburgh or not but there are only the two venues in the UK, no London showing.
When you enter the first exhibit is a large cartoon by Frank Reynolds done in 1910, change the dress fashions and the comments made about people viewing a work of art can apply to today;
'There are some who smile'
'Some who are ecstatic'
'Some who seek the why'
'Some who look for the wherefore'
'Some who would imitate'
'Some who point the finger of scorn'
'Some who peer in a desire to praise'
'Some who are in blank amazement, or stifle the loud guffaw'
'Some who are angry'
'Some who sleep'
'Some who explain what to them is inexplainable'
If you can see this show, the permenant collection is quite interesting with an emphasis on British folk art.
