Does anyone now a good way to batch convert psd files to jpeg without using the batch process function in PS?

I can easily do this with actions but it keeps on getting stuck on "Save As" and makes me manually enter it even though I have included this in the action.

Many thanks you lovely bunch of PS geniuses!

I have exactly the same problem - hurray I thought it was just me.

I take my shots RAW. Convert in PS RAW converter to Jpeg.

I then want to run a batch sharpen.

I have created the action but when I run it it hangs on the Jpeg quality screen and makes me manually select the Jpeg quality even though I have included it in the action.

I have tried everything - worked fine in CS1 !!

You will find that if you open the file and resave it your action will work fine - it seems to be on the files first save. After you have converted to Jpeg all your subsequent actions will batch process fine. Its a wierd one.

Really annoying because I have to sit there and keep clicking ok on a batch of 200 images where in the past I would go and make a brew.

At least there are two of us looking for an answer now !!

We should compare workflow.

Are you using an optical mouse or keyboard ?? I am and thought that could be the problem that the action cant see the enter key the same as a wired keyboard ??

I shoot Raw and then convert to 12 quality Jpeg in PS Raw Converter. Thats about it.

Pleased to know you have the same problem...

My workflow:-

Open RAW file from Bridge.
Do any work on a new layer/s
Save as a PSD file (so I can go back and alter editing) if needed
Back up to DVD
Batch convert to JPEG for printing.

I am using a cordless keyboard and mouse but the action does record it.

I have just had an idea - how about doing the batch convert in Elements as I am sure it is standardised and not part of an action you have to create.

I will install it onto this Mac and see how it goes.

I think its the keyboard !!!!!

Can you try hooking up a standard Keyboard and running the action ??

I don't have a normal keyboard so can't try.

Elements works. Simply go to "Process multiple files" under the file menu and you can batch convert. Easy and problem solved!

MMMmmmm doesnt slove the problem for me I dont really want to put elements on as well. I have enough programs on my PC.

Will have to keep searching for an answer. The truth is out there !!!

is it not something to do with how its saving the filename, maybe you need to batch the filename so that it puts an auto name in ??

That may work - you can batch file name change in Bridge so may work... Then create an action which simply resizes?

Nope I do a batch file rename anyway - doesnt solve the problem.

Try the batch conversion in Irfanview, it seems to convert virtually any file to any other.

I can thoroughly recommend Irfanview. I've been using it to great effect for some five years. Great program, especially as it's freeware!
