Hello

I was hoping maybe someone could give me a tip here - about over exposure and how to avoid it. I haven't got a particularly whizzy camera, in fact the only things I can adjust are the white balance settings, picture mode and the exposure (+/- 2). (Its an Olympus Camedia 3 megapixel zoom)

The trouble I am having is that ANY pics I take outside are coming out over exposed - the histogram in Photoshop has a hissy-fit! I have tried all the exposure settings down to -2, but still no luck. This is even happening in overcast conditions. Should I adjust the white balance too? If so, to what?

If I shoot later in the day the pictures are so noisy they should have a health warning! Also, my pictures have pink lines across them in darker conditions!

Is there anything I can do about this or should I just accept that my camera is old and up for retirement, concentrate on learning composition, and wait for my new camera?

Its driving me

Thanks all! :)

It could be all sorts of things really - is this the camera with the bug eating the chip? If so, then that could be the problem.

OR, if it is a really old camera, it could be that your meter has been damaged or is malfunctioning and is over compensating.

I can't see it being the white balance as this only really affects the colour of the light recorded, rather than the brightness.

If you can. post some images that show up the faults here - there may be someone who has suffered the same and could help.

Yup sounds more like a problem with the camera...

Time to get a new one... :)
