NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography at night can be used to create amazing effects, for this kind of photography a tripod is almost a must. If you want to get a clear exposure with a great depth of field you will need a tripod.
Add something in the foreground to create a frame and therefore a better depth of field. The aperture should be very low (a high f-stop) and the shutter speed about 10 seconds.
When photographing sunsets you should not only include foreground items but use the rule of thirds, specifically the horizontal rule of third so you get a good perspective of the scene, i.e, 1/3 foreground 2/3 horizon or vice versa.
Take your light reading from the colouring around the sun so you get the exposure that is ideal to accent all the colours.
To avoid having a sloping horizon use the grid feature on the camera.
