George, I don't suppose you have heard if they are going to offer the same for the 5D as I have just bought one?

Hi Alan,
It is only the 1D the offer is being made on and that is to restore confidence in the camera. All the AF issues have taken their toll so this is their way f saying the camera is now OK.
You can now get a 1D for under £2000 and that is cheaper than the 5D cost me new. It really is a great camera and built like a brick outhouse. Not the easiest to set up as it has a bewildering array of menus settings but once you have mastered that then the camera works like a dream.
Feels and handles like my old T90 - that is some accolade from me.
The message is: go out and buy one. The tonal gradation is brilliant in skin tones etc! 14bit engine, 2 x digic lll, 1.3 crop factor, blazingly fast AF and start times, 6400 iso, 10 frames a second - need I go on?
Go on, trade in a 5D or swap for 1D - you know you want one!:acute:

I guessed it might be a confidence thing. It is one amazing camera and you are right - I'd love to have one! Did my first wedding with two 5D bodies last monday and it worked really well - 24-105 on my main body and a 85mm f1.8 on the second body over my shoulder - nice and light and hardly knew it was there. That 85mm is one remarkable lens!
I usually make one big purchase per year and next years purchase will be either 1) 70-200 f2.8 L IS 2) 135mm f2L 3) a 25" Lacie monitor 4) a set of Elinchrome D lights or 5) a Canon 1dMIII or a Canon 5DmkII
Decisions, decisions, decisions.......

Hi Renee,
I did e-mail you on this. The offer is for Europe only but I suspect Canon USA will have to offer a similar deal very soon. Keep your eyes peeled.

sounds the same setup as the 40d, its got the new digi 2 or 3 processor compared to the 5d's 2 and reading a comprehensive review showing noise levels at 1600 is lower than the 5d's , 40d is really close to the 1d going by most reviews, cant wait to fire it in wedding anger tomorrow.
No cashback deals for me though :(

Hi Baz,
I got £50 back on mine - how you no gettin?
It is a stripped down version of the 1D lll - makes it an ideal second camera.

Hi Baz,
Mine was bought from HK - althought the seller did they he was UK based the item shipped in from there on the packaging.
Canon did give me the money though.
No harm in trying - fill in the form. £50 is better in your pocket.

hi sorry for barging in but I need some advice. I am new to photography and recently bought a nikon d40 and today I just bought a Sirius 80-200mm F4.5-5.6 Zoom Lens on ebay. Are they compatible with eachother or was it a waste of money??
