Dodgy one, i had my first rain wedding last year, it was horrific for me, and a big lesson learned, nearly put me right off the whole thing. I ended up doing all shots inside, any outside were done underneath a balcony, with some serious cloning and sorting to do afterwards.
Good luck, maybe print of a couple of the umbrella shots you find and show them to the B&G, to give them an idea of the shots you would be after.

You need to get there early and find a nice place inside
for the photos... Scout around...
Always have a backup plan.....
But you never know... It may not rain.. for a few minutes.. ;)

My first one was raining from after the ceremony to the end - and it was before the clocks went back so got dark really early!
I got a bit wet, but didn't mind. I always carry a set of Elinchrom lights with me so I can set up a mini studio if needed and light it perfectly. Haven't had to use it yet though!
Carry white umbrellas around with you - nothing with a logo on it as that ruins photos.

B&W or Sepia with brollies in colour.

Plenty of good advice above... all i would add is that try wherever poss to get them into daylight and avoid flash as much as poss CERTAINLY if in the rain as it will freeze the droplets on the print....... use window light to get some moody/romantic shots...... enlist the help of the best man to hold the brolly and move it down when you are about to take the shot..... and finally..... have faith the sun always shines on the good !

Great advice there David, my first wedding was for my wifes friend, just paying print costs, well on the day she got married it poured down, thunder the lot, of course that was me in panic mode, i turned up at the church at 11.30, still raining. Just as the Bride arrived it stopped, stayed stopped for cermony and some group shots in the church grounds, we were ready to move onto the reception for the cutting of the cake, just got inside and it started to rain again.
That day i became very religous.

I always have a big white golf brolly iin the boot along with a couple of flash heads - just in case.
A white brolly can also be put to good use as:
a: a parasol on a really hot day - you don't want the bride or groom keeling over during the photos do you?
b: a handy diffuser if required.
