mmm, would you be better to take your photo, draw a circlular marquee around the area your keeping for on the plate, then make outside the circle transparent, so it wont show. ??
im just guessing

Please be more specific.
Are you wanting to print text or an image??
When you say format what do you mean??

Appologies to all , I didnt quite make myself clear. I have an image in landscape format which I would like to print in the shape of a round plate. Is their any process within Photoshop Elements where I can alter the original rectangular image to a round image without any distortion? I've tried to use a mask but the edges loose their sharpness! Appologies again.........this is soooo confusing!!!!!!!

Open photoshop.
On the tool bar down the left hand side you will see a checkered rectangular box. Hover over it and it should say Rectangular Marquee Tool. You will see a little black triangle in the bottom right hand corner of this box. Left click and hold on this triangle. You will see extra selection options.
Choose the circular selection (Elliptical Marquee Tool) choose the selection of the image you want.
You now have the circle selected. You want everything else apart from the circle selected so you can delete the surrounds.
Go to select on the top menu then down the list to select inverse.
You now have everything selected apart from the circle.
Make sure your background colour is set to white. This is the two little boxes of colour on the toolbar on the left. The one at the back is the background colour. Click within this box and choose white.
Now hit the delete key.
That should be it.
Just go to the select menu again and hit reselect to clear the selection.
Hope this is OK.
