is this lense any good? it sounds really cheap but in my experiance if something sounds too good to be true it usually is,

It appears to be a fine lens. You're not going to get the same speed, sharpness, contrast and colour rendition associated with a pro lens, but that costs 10 times as much. You don't get 10x better pictures though :-)

thanks, the 10x price tag doesn't really appeal so think ill go for this one :D

This is one of the kit lenses I got when I bought my D40x and to be honest, its a very good lens. Sure the speed isn't the greatest and the build quality isn't fantastic but its good enough to last a while under normal use and the image quality is nice and sharp with very little CA or distortion. Im still using it on my D200 and because of the type of stuff I shoot and the other lenses I have, there's no need for me to upgrade from this tbh. Go for it because you won't be dissappointed.
Edit: Just realised, mine ain't even the VR version so this one will be better than mine :)
