Hi, I have a friend who is a photographer, Last night he was trying new techniques on his Nikon D80, I believe, and he did something that left me completely stunned. Im not a newbie at this, but im certainly not even close to being a pro, so I need some help figuring this out.
What he did was take a picture of me, it was dark out but i believe he did use a flash, and then he went on and took another picture of a lightbulb while shaking his camera to produce some light effects.
Then, what he did was combine the two pictures in the camera, like if he had used a screen or add filter in photoshop, meaning the light trails from the lightbulb had stayed.

The first thing I thought was that maybe he had left the shutter on, but my picture wasnt blurry, so what Im asking is, what technique did he use? and can i mimic that on my rebel xTi?

Thanks for your time!!

R.

You can combine RAW files in the camera with Nikon, not sure if canon have this feature. But you can always do it on the PC with most software packages:ok:

fuji s7000 used to allow you to take a shot then take another shot over the top of it called multiple exposure, i tried it once with my son one shot hands on face, moved him along wall hands on mouth, moved along the wall hands on ears, see no evil, speak no evil hear no evil, worked a treat.

thanks everyone for your replies!
I found the name of the technique, its called image overlay and it is only possible in nikon cameras.
I will have to do this with photoshop.

Thanks again.

I saw a review of a camera (don't think it was a Nikon) that allowed multi exposures, the way that analog SLRs used to but can't remember which one it was! Anyone??? I think it was in Photography Monthly, but might be wrong!
