Does anyone know HOW to print with even borders around the image? (i.e with the image central). This seems to be a design fault with Epson printers. I have been using (in the 'advanced' printing screen): Page Layout-Reduce/enlarge document-by output paper size, then 'centre image' (in first screen). This worked okay for a while, but now it has suddenly decided to give one of the long edges a bigger border. This is a disaster if I want to sell / frame images; I cannot understand why anyone would want prints like this. I've read advice about using 'canvas size' in Photoshop; this is crazy & time-consuming; surely a printer like this should be able to produce prints with even borders; it's quite a basic function!

Hi Alice
I too had that problem-but with an R1800 and I spoke to a mate of mine who owns a photo studio, printing and framing buisness. he told me the problem comes when you load your photo into cs3 or whatever paint package and then you add a border to it.The set print sizes for printers for A3,A4 ect can become confused with the new size of print with the border and also the centre image option can centre the image wrong.
he suggested I get myself a copy of OnOne's Genuine Fractals Print pro and I did and this software is just phenomenal. Its present as a filter in any version of photoshop since photoshop 8 after you install it. You run the filter and tell the software what size you wish to print at and theres no more huge border on one side of the print any more. However, the software doesnt come cheap. Its a couple of hundred quid to buy but its just awesome. You can also use it to upscale photos without pixelization or Downscale them without artifacts.
There is a cheaper plugin available from Alien skin called Alien skin Blow Up. This is primarily a reduction or enlarging plugin and lives in the automate section of cs3 when its installed. However, this too can cure the problem. I think Alien skin blow up is about £130 quid or so.
I know some of the more seasoned Photoshoppers on here will have further info on using the basic setting of Photoshop so no doubt there will be an answer sorted betweeen us all soon.
Best for luck

Thanks; we've ended up making a new blank document, exactly the paper size; dropping the image into it so it's centred, then printing as 'borderless'. It's bit fiddly but it seems to have worked (never had to do this before though!).
