Hi,

Just wanting a bit of advice really. Just done a few tests on my 350D and found that whenever i take a picture with a higher aperture than around 10 (so 10+) i can see a feint dark blot at the top right corner of the picture.

It does not seem to be linked with the speed of the shot, only the aperture. Cannot see it at 5.6 or 8, but it's very feint at 9 or 10 and much more pronounced at very high apertures.

Would this sound like dust on the sensor ?? What would you recommend doing to clean the sensor (not very confident about doing anything too major with the camera!), i have tried blowing the mirror gently, and i ALWAYS switch off for 30 sec before changing lenses and doing this while the camera is upside down, actaully i very rarely change lenses (only done it twice).

Is air duster spray (aerosol) any good for cleaning this dust out (assuming it sounds like dust) ?

Best Regards,
Andy

Hi,

There are some spays you could use but there are very expensive.

The dust is on the sensor, not the mirror. Mirror dust will not show up on the images.

Get a rocket blower to blow air across the sensor while holding the camera up, lens access pointing down. The camera will have a cleaning setting that swings the mirror out of the way to access the sensor.

Do not put the blower too far into the chamber.

Google lens cleaning videos and you will see how it is done. Visit visible dust .com or some cleaning answers:

Hope this helps.
