View Full Version : Photoshop losing settings/actions etc

Hello,

I have Photoshop CS2 and when I came to use it this morning it seemed to have reverted (well nearly) to its original out of the box install.

I had created a few actions which seemed to be there OK, but, the windows were all back to their default positions. I normally spread them out across my screens. Crop sizes had reverted to 1x1 , JPEG quality on save had reverted to 8 from 12.

The s/w was correctly shut-down (as far as I can remember) - is there something I need to do before shutting-down to ensure that my settings are saved correctly. One of the actions I created and assigned to a hot-key has gone for sure.

It only took me about 10 minutes to set-up again - just annoying more than anything!

Cheers

Mark

I've had something similar happen after a power cut. Maybe the heavy rain we had yesterday evening caused a surge or a cut. I was in the cloud burst on the M6 near Stoke, the rain was so heavy the traffic was only doing 30/40mph and that was dangerous.

mine does that every now and then.

It shoves all the palettes out of the dock and reverts all the custom preferences.

Dunno why but I don't loose my actions etc.

Make sure you save your actions to a separate folder.

thanks - glad it's just not me that it does it to!

I'm glad it isn't just me either! Mine does this a lot and it takes ages to do all the keyboard shortcuts again too. I now save my workspace by going window-save workspace. I give it a name and when ps messes up again it is quick to load the workspace again. I have one set of actions that refuse to be reloaded but they don't take long.
Sorry this is so long after the original post but thought it might help.

Had it myself a few times, ive got shortcuts to filters and actions folder on desktop so no tredging through explorer to find them when things go end up. I also back the actions/filters i have on image drive under software. SO like you say, is a pain but 10 mins sorts.

Must look for that tweak that lets u open cs in under 10 seconds it rocked.
