Hi - first post woop!

Anyway - I have a Canon ixus 750 (compact digital) which is great for the occasional snap and has a few cool colour effects, but I was wondering if it was worth upgrading to a digital SLR, which would have more options and variables such as shutter speed etc.

I only do some basic photography every now and again, but I would do more if my camera could do more (if you know what I mean)...

Has anyone got any suggestions for a low-end (and low budget <£250) SLR or how can I get the most out of my current camera?

Many thanks.

I use a canon 40d but the 20d 30d or 400d can be found on ebay

Go to your nearest camera store, handle the models available from all manufacturers and choose the one that best suits you.
Then go and find the best price for that camera.
Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony, Olympus all have good entry level dslr models available and there is little to choose in quality or functionality between any of them.
The fact that Fred uses a canon, Joe uses a Nikon and I use a Sony doesn't mean that any of those is the right choice for you. Only you can make that choice by handling the equipment

I use a Budsweiser (full strength)
You can get 4 of these for about £3.00 especially during happy hour. At the end of the night you won't care what camera you're using.
Cheers,
Jim.
