Hello,

As some of you may have already ready know, I'm looking at purchasing the canon 450d.

Please can you recommend what I buy at the same time?

I was thinking of the following (to get me started):-

Camera body + lens EF-S 18.55 IS
Flash - need help with which one, and do I really need to buy Canon?
Tripod - what size?
Another Lens - I was thinking a lens thats quite different to the one I'll already be getting, what should I go for?

I would rather ask you lot these questions rather than the fella in the shop as I feel he would say I needed allsorts at all costs!!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Oh PS. I am a complete beginner in the professional photography world but have been taking photos since before my teens, and only recently decided to try out pro photography.

I'd save and get the 430EX flashgun - don't know much about 3rd party devices

Your ideal 2nd lens would be the

EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS - amazing value at <£200.

Tripod needs to be stable when mounting the camera at your natural eye level - otherwise nad backs are in order.

:laugh1::laugh1:

If you are serious about going pro, the fella in the shop is probably right - you will need all sorts at all costs!!!!! (Just ask me missus and the bank manager!)

I'm not qualified to comment on Canon gear, but my Manfrotto tripod has been superb in the time I've owned it. It ain't light, but can hold my D-200 with battery grip 70-200 f2.8 and flash gun solid as a rock at full extension - which is just over 6 foot I think.
