Hello, friends

I think it's time for me to get a professional photo camera set as I've never had

one.
And I really need your advice and experience for deciding what equipment I should

get.

What kind of photos I'd like to take:
1. Concerts (live shows)
2. Portraits
3. Macro stuff like goods for adverts.

I'd want this set to bring me money, that's why I guess I should get some good

equipment, but yet - I can't afford too much. So, of course - the cheaper - the

better for me, but not for the result. Dilemma.
One the one hand as I'm a beginner - I could chose some simple set and studdy on

it, but on the other hand - I think I can take a prefessional stuff and not change

it for years.

So... What I'm thinking of now:

1. Canon 40D. My blind dream is Canon 5D, but I'm afraid it's too expensive.
Lenses:
1). Canon 24-70 f2.8L & Canon 70-200 F2.8 IS L USM
2). Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Autofocus Lens

Your help to chose stuff is very appreciated, and I really need to know your

opinions. Maybe the set above is way "high class" (as I know that to get it - I'll

have to work my arse off for more than a year/ same if I'll take a loan) and I need

to calm down, - or vice versa.

Best regards,

Alina

Hi Alina...this really is a hard one to advise on...if you have a trawl through the photography chat section there's an awful lot of discussion on the pro's and cons of various cameras...but the one piece of advice I would give is that IMO the camera body you buy is only as good as the 'glass' you stick on the front of it...and I noticed that the lenses you've mentioned are top of the range stuff (and very expensive!!)....but if you intend to stick with a Canon system they will be a good investment and probably have a lot longer 'longevity' than any body you might go fo.
Good luck.
Mick.

Thank you for help, Mick.
So I guess, it's not a huge difference if I'll get 40D or 5D untill I have these great lenses...

Can I ask - if Canon is really a good choice? Maybe Nikon could be better? I've heard that Nikon lenses are better than Canon...
