Hi,

New poster here so please be gentle. I am looking to get some photo editing software but cannot afford the price that Adobe are after for Photoshop. Are there any cheaper alternatives, even better any that are free/shareware(and I dont mean illegal stuff)

Cheers

M

Serif Photoplus, I've done major photo manips in it, so should be good for what you wanna do. To get full use out of it remember to keep the Tools Properties bar open.

There you go!

You can get The Gimp from here http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html
It's a very powerful photoshop like image editor.

Best of all it's totally free.

Is it totally virus/spyware free as well?

Gimp is part of the open source ethos of software, like the Ubuntu operating system for Linux boxes.
You should be safe with that.

I assume you're presuming there must be a catch, in the form of malware, if it's free, but don't worry.
The whole idea is that the source of the program is freely available, so were you so inclined, you could inspect the source code for malware before compiling it yourself.

Google's Picasa is free, and easy to use...fairly basic in many ways, but it might be enough for you.
