Sorry to all but I'm pretty sure this was asked about before but I forgot what was said. Has anyone got any advice for digital image filing system software? Any help gratefully accepted:banghead:

HI Dave

Ive tried a lot of these and keep returning to a standard windows file system just using folders, i have Raw, Tiff, Jpeg each has animals landscapes people folders, i also have a final print folder for my flower shots ive printed for sale, and an art folder for anything a bit fancy. Thats all and it works well.

With Barry on this Dave.. I use simple labeled folders on my desktop and drag in the relevant pics.. Nothing fancy but it works..

i have tried a few versions of filing systems but i keep having to organise my photos anyway, so gave up with them, it just seemed another proggy in a long workflow that could be binned.

Watch out Barry - it's getting colder down here! XXskiXX

There are a number of packages you can use, I used to use ThumbsPlus which I can recommend, alhtough I wasn't really using it to file and sort images, more to add keywords etc so that I could find my images later.

As with Barry though, I found that there were more and more programs entering my workflow for differing reasons so I 'prioritised' a lot once I moved to PS CS2.

I now do all my sorting, naming, filing and keywording through Bridge (bundled with CS2), and the 'My Pictures' folder.

'My Pictures' contains folders for:

'Clients' - Each client has a folder in here.
'Family' - Snapshots etc of friends and family
'Stock' - Non-specific images that may be of interest to a buyer

Plus a few others with templates, borders, etc etc.

The real secret is in the Titling and Keywording of your images. Get it right and you will always know where your image is or be able to find it in seconds.
