Hi folks
Im having a bit of issues with my images, basically i cant change the name of them in windows (as ive always done ) without being told that the file is being used by another person or application.
I take my raw file, open in cs, it converts to a tiff, i do my work, then save it as a myfilenameTODO.tif, (the todo meaning i have work still to do), when i open image again in cs another time, make my changes then just hit x, it saves it no problem, if i then go out to windows and try to change the file name i keep getting told the above, it just means i have to resave it as the filename minus the TODO, but id rather do the name changes in windows.
Ive checked the obvious, such as them not being "read only", no other apps open, rebooted, switched off and left for the day, etc.
Im open to any other ideas, suggestions or thoughts.
Thanks

Ye I sometimes get this problem I think its to do with photoshop.
Close down photoshop and then try the rename part.

Sounds like big trouble if rebooting didn't work. I get that message sometimes and look to see I have nothing open, so don't know why I get that message.
Hope everything works out for you.

Thanks Earl, im just switching off my indexing thing now, allegedly it slows your system down anyway so will see if maybe that is tying the files up, aside from this i have no idea.

Select ALL.
Right click. Properties.
Make sure the READ ONLY hasn't been switched on.

Tibet, run scanners, virus finders, defragged, cleaned up windows the lot. Still nothing.
since last night ive rebooted twice, and each time its allowed me to delete one image only after every reboot.

I posted the problem on another forum, it turns out that it could be the microsoft rawviewer being the problem, i have had a bit of issue since i installed it last year so will remove this and let you know how i get on.

And the big MS want you to use a format they've developed? No chance.

If your using CS2 I would have thought you would use Photoshops RAW viewer ?

I do most my organising through standard windows directories, in there i cannot view raw files now, just the icons (no thumbnail), does cs2 allow the viewing of thumbnails rather than opening each image, i know bridge does etc but i dont use this.

Yes open adobe bridge then highlight the images and right click then "Open in Raw converter" they will open in adobes raw program - really easy !!!

ahh, i have bridge but dont use it, if i want to open images in raw converter i right click on one open in cs, it then opens in raw, then i highlight all the others and just drag onto cs, all opening in raw to batch process.
