How do you stop those pictures with the Bride or Groom blinking ?

The first thing is to notice whether they are "blinkers" or not - some people just blink lots more than others. If you notice that one of them are a blinker then you can take the pictures and check each one first.

I don't get any blinkers really as I count down to the picture.

Most people blink because "Joe Public" point the camera at them and say "smile". In the next 15 seconds or so they are going to take the picture - this is why people blink because they don't know when the picture is going to be taken.

I count down to every shot "1 - 2 - 3 - Fire !!" If they know exactly when you are going to take the picture then they get the blinks out of the way first

it goes back to my Bronica days when every shot had to count - one shot of each pose any blinks went in the bin !!

I try and take 1 photo for every member of the group (plus one for luck). Then , hopefully I can cut/paste the face of a non-blinking member over their face if they blink. Trying not to move (them or the camera)

I took a group (bride and 5 maids) - one maid blinked on 5 shots and the bride did the honours in shot 6 (when the maid didn't) (Grrrrrr). Rescued it in PS - but very frustrating

In the days of film; remember them?; I knew an old pro who used Rollies with two flash guns attached on a bracket, there were also two cable releases in the handgrip. One was riged to fire one of the flashes so the subject thought the shot had been taken and so relaxed, he then fired camera and flash. No blinks but a lot more complicated than doing it in PS.

This may sound silly, but I look at everyone and say blink...after they blink I snap the shot. Makes them giggle a little to hear me say it but cuts way down on the blinkers.
