Hi guys - I have a Nikon D80. I have a Bowens Gemini 500. How do I get the Bowens flash to work with my D80 - is there a special remote trigger I can buy that both the camera and flash unit can work with or can I get a sync cord that will operate with my kit? Am novice so be gentle. I think I will need to get a flashmeter to arrive at the correct exposure for the Gemini. Knocker:acute:

Hi Mate
why dont you go to the introduce yourself thread and say hi to people before you jump right in and use your first post to ask questions. Its much more polite and then the peeps get to know a bit about you.
Its always nicer when peeps join the forum and pop in there to say hello.:)

Yes - quite right - found that section and put some detail in - will get better as confidence grows hopefully - as the wife says - I only have two faults - anything I do and anything I say. Take care.

Welcome to the forum Knocker.
In answer to your question you can easily buy a remote flash unit that sits on top of your hot shoe with the other bit plugged into the gemini flash unit or with a sync lead using a hot shoe adapter to plug the lead into.
Ebay has millions of remote flash units for sale from around £20

Yes, as above... you'll find them on ebay, or if you want something recommended, I use the Studio Flash Radio Trigger as sold on Mark Cleghorn's webiste... the added feature of this one is that the main unit that plugs into the flash head uses mains power from the flash power cable and thus you don't need to worry about batteries running flat or turning the units off!!!

Stewart - sent for one from Cleghorns as they looked OK and reasonable pricing. Do I need to tell my D80 its there when fitted or will the camera pick it up etc and meter as normal Thanks. Dave.

Hi Dave, it comes it 2 parts... one plugs into the sync socket on one of your flash heads, the other connects via your hot-shoe on the D80... very simply to use, no setting up... you then meter as normal... the test button on the hot-shoe unit is good for this!
