Hi
I wondered if you could resolve a photoshop cs2 problem that i am having.

I sometimes send images via email, so firstly i reduce the filesize of a large jpg image and select `save as` and choose jpg format,
but then when i go to file open, it will not let me open the reduced image and i get a message saying choose a program to open this image.
I have tried sending the small image, but the email receprient could not view it

It surely should just be a small sized jpg, but somehow it is not showing it as one.
I would appreciate any advice
many thanks
tommy

Are you renaming it.

Hi chaz

Yes, after reducing the image, i just add the words web size
so if it is number 4jpg that i reduce,
i just rename the reduced image 4jpg websize

Thanks
Tommy

Are you calling it "4jpg websize.jpg" or "4.jpg websize" or even "4.jpg websize.jpg"?

The first one should work, the second probably won't, the third one may do.

You should go with the "4 websize.jpg" though.

Not sure about CS2 but whenever you try to save some thing in PSE it tries to default to the native photoshop .psd format. If you acidentaly saved as this and then tried to open on a computer without any version of Photoshop installed you would get that error. I would double check the file type of the images.

Hey Tommy, long time no see.

Don't know about you, but sometimes in my hast I make the mistake of calling a file something.jpg but forget to change the file format to jpg. Thereby saving a default psd formatted file with the jpg extension, confusing myself and whatever software tries to open it later. It's obvious with the large filesizes, and the fact that it didn't ask me to set the quality level before saving.
