Tag Clouds

I know I'm a bit thick but what on earth is Tag Clouds (top 70 Tags) that appears at the top of every page now?

a tag cloud is just a collection of links in the form of aphabetical order that you can click to go to a particular subject.They are laid out in such a way that they take up less room than conventional lists of links and mostly they are one word-or sometimes two word links.

The tag cloud also helps with search engine ranking.

I have now moved them down to the bottom of the forum so they are less obtrusive.

I had never seen them before and wondered why the item had suddenly appeared at the top of every page.
