Help with home study project please

I've been studying a 'freelance photography' course through the National Home Study and my second project is as follows:
'Take 6 to 8 shots using the theme 'city people' accompany your work with an essay of 500 words showing how space,light and texture can be used to capture atmosphere and mood'
Does anyone have any ideas? Our nearest city is York but I wouldn't like to stand there taking photos of 'city people' incase I get punched!

York would be a great place to take photos as there is a wide mix of cultures and different people there. you could photograph people in their place of work? Just a suggestion, and it will be a short essay with 500 words!
