strobist.blogspot.com has some amazing tutorials covering all aspects of strobe lighting. Might be worth a look.

Hi Mate

are you actually using a normal flash gun( I noticed you said "gun") or are you actually using strobes with the brolly?

if its strobes you should do some test shots at different power settings and also meter your shots with a light meter if you have one.

an explanation of your setup for the shot might help us help you further.

What Kenny said. Same applies to flash guns too. if you're trying to get creative with your lighting, you need to take it off ttl and do it manually. Remember too that silver is the least flattering colour that produces the hardest (but brightest) light.

It doesn't really matter if it's flash heads or flash guns, the rules are pretty much the same and the effect will be very similar. It means you need to really do things manually and have a play about to get best results. Its ok reading how to do things but you'll learn better by putting in the footwork and actually trying stuff out. :)
