Sorry Martin we are different. I had a shock the other evening at a gig; when looking thru the forthcoming attractions there was a photo of the 'Battlefield band' and one of their members looks exactly like me. How's he's put up with that I'll never know http://www.wedding-photography.org/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.wedding-photography.org/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

DennisB
2nd January 2006, 03:10 PM
WHat a coincidence !

It looked vaguely like a flashgun one of my friends had a long time ago, and the name metz came to mind. A quick search for pictures of Metz hammer head flashguns came up with the E-bay item. I should have looked further down the listings !!!

Stemmy
2nd January 2006, 03:16 PM
Isnt it wierd but the shadow looks like a face !!!!!!!!!! :D

DennisB
2nd January 2006, 03:25 PM
Yes. Hadn't noticed that, and even had to look at it for a while to see what you were talking about. Now that would be a great alternative to the macro challenge. "What is this shadow cast by "?? :D

DennisB
2nd January 2006, 06:16 PM
OK, Unless Stemmy says otherwise, I am assuming the I guessed correctly about the Metz flashgun. On that basis here is another macro to get to work on.

Stemmy
2nd January 2006, 08:05 PM
looks like cast iron and some kind of liquid possibly oil. No specifics yet

tonymidd
2nd January 2006, 09:06 PM

This has not been distorted in any way has it Dennis?

Stemmy
2nd January 2006, 10:15 PM
Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine :D

DennisB
2nd January 2006, 10:17 PM
Not cast iron, or oil, Martin, but I can see what you are getting at. Similarities to roadside drain covers ?

Not a comb, Tony, and the image is as taken with just some cropping, and a bit of rotation.

DennisB
2nd January 2006, 10:19 PM
Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine :D

It looks like that rubber jelly stuff they pour round things then it sets to protect them in transit. Is it part of your new camera?

Not part of a new (or old) camera ... Santa must have missed my letter ! :(

Not jelly or rubber either

Kirsty
2nd January 2006, 10:52 PM
perhaps some sort of grill? or grid at the side of the road.

I have one of those george foreman things and for roasted peppers and veg they are great, its a great invention in my opinion!

Keep going, Kirsty. I am in a learning mood. Must have another look at those grills.

Back to the point, though. No, not a grid at the side of the road. It is a macro shot, and the field of view is only about an inch or less across.

DennisB
3rd January 2006, 12:11 AM
No, not a radio speaker, George, and not a bottle but glass is visible in the picture.

Martin....not specifically non-stick, but I have not managed to make one stick yet :) You are on the right track about the kitchen though, but way off the boil with the egg-white and speakers :D

I bet it's something particularly Scots, like the Haggis trap my Uncle had. The Americans believed him!

No, not a Haggis trap either !.

Anyway, Haggis traps are inhumane and have been declared illegal and banned under recent Scottish Parliament Anti-Hunting legislation. Anyone interested in legal ways to hunt haggis, should consult
http://www.flyinghaggis.co.uk/haggis/haggis.htm
and other resources. As we approach Burns Night (26th January) I would urge all ex-pat Scots and their friends to make sure any Haggis consumed at celebratory events have been caught using approved methods. You know it makes sense :D
