Hi all
sorry for the delay in this so here goes. The mod challenge for April is now on.The challenge will run from today until the end of the month.Usual rules apply.Nobody under 50 posts can enter and the rules set uo by Chris Hawkins apply to the challenge as they did before.
Rules are as follows
1. No members of staff are eligible for entry.
2. Premium Members or those with a post count of 100 or over can enter, so those with less GET POSTING NOW!!!.
3. The image must be unique to the competition, the EXIF data MUST be included to verify date. Most images have an EXIF file, if unsure, just PM a Mod or ask on Forum.
4. Images will be judged on composition, lighting, subject matter, and the other general rules of photography.
5. The winning full sized image will need to be sent via ftp to Ashton Photographics (please contact Stemmy for details to be added to ftp server along with the postal address to send winning print to.)
6. Please only post the picture, no explanation as to where it came from, how you got it, purely to keep the images as the important part of the thread.
7. One entry per member, the original entry posted is the one entered, this cannot be changed.
8. The moderators will gather to discuss all the entries and make a vote on the best image of each competition.
The subject of this months challenge will be...
The wonderful world of Water.
I know this is a simple subject and theres none who cant get a photo based in water. It doesnt matter what the photo is as long as its water or liquid based.Theres some nice sunshine out and about now so how about a waterfall or some cracking drops photos...the task is up to you so get cracking...
I look forward to your entries..

Here's mine! Aww it looks a bit soft on upload - I think the small filesize didn't help.

Kenny, Out if interest if uploading a image for this comp breaks the image as loony above claims can he upload a higher rez version without breaking "One entry per member, the original entry posted is the one entered, this cannot be changed.
"

If I'm allowed I'll have another look at the original TIF of this and perhaps re-upload into the original post if I think the sharpness really has suffered. I did save it a bit too compressed so it's quite a small file compared to the upload limit, which perhaps won't have helped.

Hmmm..this is a good one and it made me think..
The way I see rule 7 is as follows..you can only post one pikkie and the bit about it cannot be changed means that if you post a pikkie of a tree say,and change your mind, you cannot then post an image of a river. Its over simplified but YKWIM. The way I see it is,if your original image was posted and due to compression or something it doesnt look right, you can post THE SAME image again but at a better quality. You CANNOT swop this images for an image of a different subject.
BTW..Mogs....Loonymoon might be upset if you call HER a him LOL...her name is Carmen!
Just to clarify the situation
rule 7 stands in that you can only post one photo into the MPOTM challenge. However,if due to uploading issues the images is corrupted, you can repost the the original image in its uncorrupted form back in the SAME thread. If anyone posts the same image twice one of them will be deleted....
Cripes......I just flexed my mods muscles on my watch on the MPOTM...not bad for a veggie eh????

PS...if I suddenly get fired these rules might change LOL:laugh1:

Me and the horse I was riding came second in a "handy pony" class at a horse show I went to a long time ago.... only because there were only 2 entries though!! So really I came last.
I wouldn't want to come first and last in this one!
I'll have a look tonight and reupload if I think the sharpness could be better. It may not make the blindest bit of difference though!

I have a lot of duck and swan pictures, but I'm not sure any of them would come under pure water... :P

This was taken today as I wanted to enter. :) I got a lot of swan/duck pics, but I thought that this one worked better for the subject as it's purely water and I like the abstract. :)

HI Natalie
Im sorry to have to say but the rules say you cant enter until you have done 100 posts. Its the rules Im afraid so this time you cant enter.But....by the time the next one runs you will probably have notched up 50 posts. The only other way round that is if your a premium member.
Im sorry.I bet it was a cracking photo too.

in answer to your question,In Windows XP and later Microsoft operating systems, a subset of the Exif information may be viewed by right clicking on an image file and clicking properties; from the properties dialog click the Summary tab. However, this can damage certain Exif headers if changes are applied.
So in short any image you take on your camera will retain
EXIF data.
