Ok Julys subject of the month is "Where you live"

Im not bothered how close to home it is as long as it represents "where you live". It doesnt have to be in your house. It could be your town, city or even country.

Please remember this section is for images that you have just taken.

No old images please.

The idea is to get out and take some new pictures !!

Have fun

If anybody wants to suggest a topic for next months vote please post it here.

OK so these are taken with 2 miles of "ARR 'OWSE" !!

the church programme is for the garden fete and its the day John meets Paul - the gravestone is in the same churchyard and 2 graves along is one belonging to the McKenzie Family ( "father McKenzie" ) so i shall let you fill in the details. Coincidence or what!!!!

The coach buzzes around the Beatles haunts daily..... never been on it !!!

The gates at Strawberry fields is all that remains of the orphanage where John and probably Paul would have played in the gardens/grounds as kids. John lived around the corner just yards away Paul lived about 1 mile further away.

A corner of the garden, Chasewater a two minute walk up the road, and the school where my late wife looked after the kids with special needs for 23 years.
Note the anti-speed chicane, we are plauged with these and speed humps all over the village. There have been more acidents since this chicane was put in than before 'cos idiots try beating the traffic that should have priority.:hissyfit::banghead:

Where I live is very isolated. I have to travel 15 miles to get to the store and about 75 miles to get to a city. So I spend most of my time photographing the White Mountains and the things in it.

We have scenic rivers and brooks with old tourist trains. The many notches that are here and this one is called Crawford Notch with it crystal clear pond. Most are mountain fed ponds and lakes. I found an unusual tree with its roots growing above ground. Also we have many hiking trails with suspension bridges to cross the many rivers and streams.

Well here is my town, Burntisland. Sat ont the Banks of the River Forth, in the distance you can see edinburgh and towards the left hand side of Edinburgh you can make out the Volcano (arthurs seat). I stay at far right hand side right up at water right on edge of pic, the bridges are 7 mile up the forth to the Right.

As you can guess it can get a bit windswept most of the year, but not bad, oh im up what they call the Binn Hill (185meter) which is also part of the old volcano basin (few year afore my time), it is possible on a good crisp day with a set of binoculars to make out the Cairgorm mountain range up north.

Some from me......

I tried to get some nice shots of the Cairngorms - Pengwin and I managing to get spectacularly lost there yesterday! Unfortunately it was very misty - did my best. :) The shot of our place was taken on the fly as we drove past. The station is in the nearest town - 7 miles away. :)

Alright, i live about half way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast...and I figured that you are all sick of beach shots so I chose Brisbane to take my shots in...the fact that we were going there anyway had nothing to do with my decsion...alright it may have had something to do with it...

So here's my dismal effort...I went into the city yesterday with the family..now I probably should warn you that I abhor the city...so to say I was not inspired to take shots is an understatement...plus my hubby gets embarrassed when I take photo's in public...*yes, yes I know...sad but true *nods*....

Oh, I only took one lens with me too...no point in carting everything through the city 28mm - 135mm

Alright we started at the Botanical Gardens in town...as you can see its very dry here at the moment as we are in the middle of a drought...so dry that even the staff at the Botanical gardens are not allowed to water the plants....oh yeah with typical Bindii luck it was raining too...no not enough to break the drought just enough to peeve me off..;)c

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/gardens.jpg

It was a bit boring there, so I had a scrounge in the gardens and came upon this gorgeous carpet python...he was heading in the wrong direction for a decent shot though...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/snake1.jpg

so I blocked his escape and snapped this....

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/snake2.jpg

I'd had enough of the gardens so we decided to wander into the main shopping district to grab a bite to eat...I wasn't hungry so I went shopping and took a couple of snaps instead...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/queenstreet1.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/queenstreet.jpg

Then hubby - who I might add wasn't wearing four inch heels - thought it a smashing idea to walk across to Southbank Parklands....so over the bridge we go...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/bridge.jpg

I took this on the way over the bridge...any excuse to rest my feet...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/bridge1.jpg

We arrived at Southbank Parklands and had another little rest near the abour...by this time my feet where killing me...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/abour.jpg

Then we wandered along the river till we found a coffee shop..where my husband and daughter decided to grab a take away coffee...I don't drink coffee so I opted to wait out front and snap a few more pics...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/bikeride.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/canoe.jpg

I couldn't resist the seagulls....

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/seagull1.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/seagullsmall.jpg

Then we strolled up towards the picnic and swimming areas....not too many people swimming today as its the middle of winter and its simply too cold...unless your a young boy that is...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/southbank3.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/southbank2.jpg

The Life Guards at the man made beach didn't have a lot to do because of the weather....

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/southbank.jpg

We headed towards the markets....

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/markets.jpg

and stopped at Buskers Pitch for a few minutes...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/busker.jpg

Then because I was whining about my sore feet so much...you try wearing four inch heels on an all day trek while keeping your mouth shut...I decided that we would catch a CityCat back to the other side of the river...Brisbane is a river city...and a big part of our public transportation is via water ferries....you might find a few blotches on these shots...cause it was about here that I managed somehow to get my lense wet...;)c

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/citycat3.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/citycat.jpg

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/citycat1.jpg

The CityCat took us around the corner past the Botanical Gardens and the marina to where we had started....

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/city.jpg

My daughter in typical teenage fashion was unimpressed by the ride...I mean it just wouldn't be cool to show some enthusiasm would it...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/helenacitycat.jpg

My son on the other hand...was wet....but happy..

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/tyler.jpg

I managed one last snap before the CityCat docked....of the Story Bridge...

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h222/Bindiime/Others/storeybridge.jpg

then home we went....

Some great shots there Bindii, I wish I could take sots of that quality when I'm struggling for inspiration :)

I particularly like the escalator shot and the pathway in the park with that strange tunnel like structure.

Umm it can get really cold but in the past few weeks we have had approx 11 - 27 degrees Celsius...cold enought o rug up....but warm enough for the snakes to go looking for a sunbathing spot...:)

BTW Kirsty...I love your garden shots...its a way cool garden! :clapping:

Managed to take this of the Llyn Fawr reservoir and picnic area yesterday. The picnic area is over looking the Cynon valley and the Brecon Beacons.

The other is of Blaencwm a small village at the top of the Rhondda Fawr it lies on the floor of the valley. With one road in and out it is very quiet and the people are friendly, especially to those who visit.

Spotted near Edinburgh, which is just a stone's throw from Glasgow, where I live....honest ! Visited the place twice over the next two days. First time was afternoon, as in this shot, and the other time was just after sunrise at 6am. A magical experience alone in the middle of a poppy field at the crack of dawn.:snap2:

1st shot is our road (our house is on the left conveniently hidden by the brick wall:))
The next two are of the green just in front of a local hotel, which is inhabited by two Highland cattle and two horses (the green that is not the hotel )

The next three are of Botley village centre, about 2 miles away. The last shot is about the same distance in the other direction, in the background you can see the m27.

A few miles up the road is Southampton airport, the home of the Spitfire. This is the the roundabout outside the airport, taken very quickly as parking is awkward (due to little yellow lines all over the place ;)c)

Finally got into gear to take domw shots for this subject, but the light wasn't good - that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

1) Alsager Town FC, MU watch out!. In the far distance, just on the horizon, you can (possibly) see Mow Cop, where John Wesley preached, adn founded Methodism (apparently)

2) Guess who came for the walk with me. Walking across this common land toward an old railway line

3) This tree has his face re-painted every so often, but o one owns up to it. Some gimp decided to daub him with grey paint last year, but that has faded, and the face is clearly visible again.

4) The railway line - Used to be run for transporting salt, but was closed down even before Dr beeching I think. Now a great track for jogger, cyclists, horss and dog walkers.

5) First blackberries of the season - there will be thousands down the Salt Line, but everyone picks them.

6) Borrow Pit - I don't know why htis was dug - it isn't natural, but the local anglers love it. Heidi (thats our Westie) got a fish hook caught in her nose while I was taking this shot, but luckily it was just tangled in her fur, not embedded. One of the anglers got it oput while I held her still. Poor little thing.

7) Christs Church. One of my favourite subjects, it's dark and foreboding outside, but lovely inside. Unfortunately the stained glass windows on the road site have had to be covered in wire mesh to stop the brain donors breaking them. The local Goths also love to hang aroung in the graveyard, and Heidi love barking at them

Alsager has three claims to fame:
The teacher trainig college (closing in a few years),
the ammunition factory (my wife grew up on the farm next door, and always finds the sound of rifle ammunition being test fired on the range reassuring),
and the toilet factory, but as you can see, I have not included pictures of any of these.

Is that Botley where the sweetcorn grows? If so, try to catch their Cornfest this weekend.
