Yesterday I went to what we call a 'Big day out' for disabled people...my gorgeous 12 year old neice was part of the entertainment.....she is a singer....

Anyway I had the best time as I find something special about their childlike behaviour...and boy do they know how to have a good time! :)

Enjoyed the shots, some great natural ones.

I note the weather was kind even though mid-winter.

We've got snow on the mountain again and temperature ranges 2 degrees to 12.:getmecoat: :getmecoat:

the main workers were Downs women and men..

Once, when I was struggling with my golf swing, and getting more and more frustrated, angry, infuriated and UTTERLY p#ssed off 'cos all my shots were going to the left on the driving range, a Downs Syndrome kid planted himself in the bay next to me and started swinging with all his might at the little white ball.

Afetr five or six manic swipes, he shanked the ball against the wall of the bay, it ricocheted a couple of times, we all ducked and the ball ended up three feet behind where it started.

The look of pure, unbridled joy at having made contact with the ball, and enthusiasm to tee up another and swing with all his might again taught me a REAL lesson.

Why was I getting annoyed at myself?

Whenever I get frustrated at stuff that doesn't work the way it's supposed to, or I feel I could better I always remember that kid on the driving range and remind myself that the enjoyment is as much in the doing as in the achieving.

I gave him the rest of my bucket of balls and got a hug and sloppy kiss in return - a small thing for me to do but he has no idea what a huge influence he has been on my life since.

Great pics byt he way Bindii - your niece is going to break a lot of hearts, just like you I'll bet!
