Hi everyone mark here after a 4 mth absence from the forum, Just a quick question i'm taking high key pictures in my new studio, everything is absolutely brilliant except when the subjects jump up and down and move around i can't get the subjects sharp, can anyone tell me the reason for this is is it because i need a more powerful and faster flash or is it to do with shutter speed. i'm shooting at 1/125 at f8 my lights are all 400 elinchroms.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

If your camera supports it I would use a faster sync speed.

Yes, a faster synch speed MAY help, it will help to cut off the 'dying embers' of the flash. But a faster synch speed, even if your camera does support it, may not be possible if you use a radio trigger because of the small but sometimes significant delay that occurs with radio triggers. There is an article in the tutorials section on the Lencarta website about this but the link isn't working...

I've asked the webmaster to put it right, will update this thread when it's done.

Another thing you should consider is switching off your modelling lamps. It's possible that they are producing enough light to cause a problem.

Another thing to consider is that the flash duration at high power settings is generally faster than at lower ones, so turning up the power may help.

That would have been my guess.
