I found this last night while browsing Adobe TV and was quite impressed.
This looks like a very comprehensive b&w conversion tool for anyone who has P/S and uses ACR.

With an image opened in ACR click the HCR/Greyscale tab - Under the saturation tab reduce all colours to -100% - You can then go under the Luminance/Hue/Split Toning and Basic tabs to make unlimited adjustments.
You can also save it as a preset and it is non-destructable.
