I have Adobe CS2 but recently downloaded Nikon NX and BibblePro trial versions.

Just removed these programmes as I prefer the CS2 RAW programme and now when I open the 'open file' window in CS2 the images in the little window are shown as NEF icons instead of thumbnails.

Same when I open a folder in windows, icons not thumbnails although they open perfectly in the Windows RAW file browser?

Any ideas?

Easiest method to fix this is to reinstall PS. I know this is a pain, but it seems that it's not that easy to associate files with PS correctly after installation. During the installation, you will be asked which file types to associate with PS, from there you should be able to select the NEF files, from then on, they should appear as thumbnails.

I know it's an awkward way of doing it, but the other way is more awkward

Sorted it, just reinstalled Windows RAW file viewer as a repair and everything is fine. The uninstallation of the other programmes must have damaged it.

Glad you got it sorted.

Windows can be very finicky with file associations. Sometimes it is just better to let the programs deal with it.
