I'm 6''2, which isn't exactly huge, but every tripod I've ever owned is about 4 inches too short!
I had a go with a Manfrotto classic tripod the other day, and was amazed that I didn't have to bend down to use it!
Anyway, I'm on a budget, as always, but does anyone know of a half decent TALL tripod? Second hand is fine.

do an advanced search here for posts by karlwilson using tripod as keyword.
He is tall and I recall him saying he had a tripod that was plenty tall enough.

It depends what you mean by a tight budget. The Manfrotto 144 advertised here: Birdnet Optics - second hand page - tripods may be ideal. Also, Opticron do the Birder tripod which is very tall, not as robust as the Manfrotto, but much cheaper.

If manfrotto is the one your after i notice whilst looking through bits on ebay that there are plenty of manfrotto tripods around. Even some new ones for about £100 2nd hand were doing about £50

I've got a red snapper tripod. It goes up way above my head (I'm about 5"6) so I imagine it reaches 6 ft minimum.
It's very good value for money to at about £50 including a really very nice tripod bag. It's qutie a robust piece of kit for the money.

They do various other models and heads too for a bit more cash - highly recommended by me.
