Hi Folks,
Can anyone offer a quick and easy method for correcting colours particularly the orange cast left by tungsten lighting indoors.
On weddings i generally use Auto White Balance on the camera, which is great for most situations , and i am sure you will all appreciate i do not want to be changing white balance settings throughout a wedding.
When shooting indoors a mild orange cast is often quite pleasing , however i have a couple of venues where it seems to be much worse than others.
I would like to correct this colour cast on images , back to neutral.
How shouild i best go about it ?
I have muddled through by tweaking colour sliders in Photoshop CS in the past, and have achieved pleasing results through perseverance.
However i am keen to understand and use a proper (and less time consuming method).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can try the blue photo filters in CS.

to have a set of "procedures" for getting a photo from one white balance Daylight to overcast.
I know I could always shoot in RAW and redo the white balance on conversion ...but for casual stuff I usually just shoot jpgs.
and while we are at it - WHY does the canon 1DS not use a flash white balance when it fires the flash on auto ? Is it me? can you get the camera to override the sset white balance when it uses flash?

Cheers Tony,
Sometimes the solution is justing staring you in the face !
I would have put a blue filter on if using film, why didn't i think to apply a blue filter in photoshop ???!!!!
There are 2 Cooling filters in the CS filters pallette , both work a treat.
You know, one day some one will invent a camera which has wide exposure latitude, lasts for 20 years , doesn't need batteries and requires no computer.
Or perhaps thats just ridiculous !

It can take a while to remember to change the white balance on the menu of your camera, but in time it becomes second nature. The option of saving all your images as RAW is fine if you have the time to wait for each file to write to your flash card, but in the heat of an assignment, it is a lot quicker to just make the adjustment in the camera then shoot like a wild man .. or woman.

I am bad with changing my white blance settings, I need to work on that. Then I wouldnt have to fix so many images in photoshop. (Like only 600-800) I have been doing one by one by one (images) in photoshop. Doing levels, then color blance, with the yellow I pull out the yellow a bit...or duplicate and making into b/w, or black and white with color. I know I know I am doing so much work for myself. I do not know how to batch. I really want to hire someone to do ALL my editing for me....

Sounds as if you need to get a good book on PS Renee, try one by Scott Kelby 'Adobe Photoshop CS2 for digital Photographers'
