Yes. Some of the new stuff in cs2 should not be under-estimated. Eg, learn to use the vanishing point tool - it is sooooo cool! Plus Image warp, HDR capability without 3rd party plug in and more filter support for 16 bit images.

Go play!!!!!!!!!!! Chris

Kirsty, in fact just found this!!!!! Now are you excited!!!

What's new for you in Photoshop CS2?
By Matt Klaskowski

Believe it or not, I really didn't try to intentionally rhyme that title. It just happened that way. If you can get past the horrible sounding rhyme though, take a look at how Photoshop CS2 can help in your particular field.

FOR EVERYONE

Bridge
Adobe has totally revamped the File Browser. Its now called Adobe Bridge and it's a standalone application. So now, you can process your files in Bridge while working in Photoshop. Also, Bridge works for all Adobe applications now so you'll be able to use it whether you use Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, or Acrobat.

Vanishing Point
An amazing 3D Perspective filter that lets you add or remove objects in perfect perspective.

Spot Healing Brush
This new tool made its debut in Elements 3 and has now found its way over to Photoshop CS2. It's great for small touch-up jobs.

Red Eye Tool
The name says it all. Actually, it should probably be called the Red Eye Removal Tool but you get the idea. Just click and watch Red Eye disappear.

New Layers Palette
The layers palette has been changed significantly. Now you can Shift or Ctrl/Cmd click to select multiple layers.

3 New blur filters (Box, Shape, and Surface Blurs)
Adobe has added three new Blur filters for various uses.

Enhanced Info Palette
The Info palette has been enhanced. It now includes more information, settings, and tips on using the active tool.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Enhanced Camera Raw
Adobe has really added some nice features in the new version of Camera Raw. You'll see options for auto correcting raw files, a Curves adjustment, and a new Crop Tool. Also, you can now open and edit multiple files directly in Camera Raw.

Lens Distortion Correction Filter
Correct common types of lens distortion such as barrel or pincushion distortion with the new Lens Correction filter.

Reduce Noise Filter
Remove noise from your photographs with Photoshop CS2's new Reduce Noise Filter.

Smart Sharpen Filter
This one may give Unsharp Mask a run for its money. It takes sharpening a step further by reducing common noise problems that arise when sharpening photos. Watch the Video Clip.

FOR DESIGNERS

Smart Objects
A whole new type of layer that lets you non-destructively transform objects in Photoshop.

Image Warping
Prior to Photoshop CS2, only type could be warped. But now you can warp any object, selection, or layer. The best part about it is that you have a custom option if any of the preset warp options don't work for you.

ImageReady Integration (Animation, Variables)
In an effort to blur the boundaries between Photoshop and ImageReady, CS2 now includes its own animation palette. Now you can Web animations right from within Photoshop CS2.
.

WYSIWYG Font Menu
Can you say "It's about time!"?. This new feature lets you preview a font right alongside its name in the font menu.

GENERAL EASE OF USE and OTHER IMPROVEMENTS

Customizable Interface
Customize your own menus in Photoshop CS2. Yep, you can now show, hide, or even color code any menu item to help make the interface less cluttered. Or, there's always the possibility for some pretty cool Photoshop pranks in the office with this one.

Improved Help
Photoshop CS2 now has an improved help area. It contains an improved search engine and index. You can even bookmark popular topics that you'd like to keep handy.

Web Photo Gallery enhancements (New Flash based templates)
Photoshop CS2 includes Flash-based templates for much nicer and more dynamic presentations.

Kirsty,

Here's a pretty good tutorial:

http://www.photoshoplab.com/writing-on-the-wall-cs2-vanishing-point.html

and here's a link to a video clip:

http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tutorials/tt-cs2/vanishing-point.html

I only learnt about it last week and I know I'm addicted. Another tool I did not know about (not new to CS2) is the patch tool - that's pretty awesome too - have you used it?

Cheers

Chris - hoping for more hugs!
