Hi There,

I am very keen to improve on my macro photography. I have a Canon 350D with a Tamron AF 70-300mm len with macro setting 1:2. Is there a better lens I can buy?

I would appreciate all your feedback.

Thanks

Gemma

I just bought a Nikon (yeah I know you're on cannon but that's not the point) 28-105 with a "Macro" switch....

Miles better than any of my previous stuff with a 1:2 lens...

Get down to Jessops and bring your camera... Play with a few of them...

Watch out for the "macro" switch...

Here's the full 12pm (interpolled) from my S3 Pro...

And the one below is part of the image at 100%

I have a Tamron 90mm SP AF 1:1 f2.8 macro lens - got it on eBay for around £90 and it is my favourite lens.

No need to fiddle with macro switches just get close to subject and it focuses down for you. There is a focus limiter switch, to prevent the thing hunting from infinity to 5cm when autofocusing. It's fast, quiet and pin-sharp!

Whne working at minimum focal distances, the minimum aperture goes down to about f64 which is great for close-up DOF.

Would back up everything lostmysnork says - I got one of these on eBay and it's a cracking lens

I have a Canon 100mm 2.8 macro lens....and its brilliant. As far as lenses go its not too expensive but gives lovely crisp results....Its a 1:1 btw..

takes a nice portrait too..:)
