Hello,

I started studying photography about 12 years ago, and began advertising as a professional at the beginning of 2004. My bread and butter is weddings, but I also do portraits and commercial work, and occasionally sell some of my personal photography as fine art (not trying to suggest that I am a fine artist, just that people purchase the photos to look at, and not to make money with ;) ).

I swing both ways: film and digital. For digital I have a Canon 20D and a Microtek i900 scanner. For film I have a wide variety of cameras and gear ranging from 35mm to 4x5, and my own BW darkroom. Photography is my main obsession whether at work or at play. For fun I shoot mostly landscapes, some street photography, and environmental portraits, but I'm interested in a lot of different styles and subject matter. I enjoy using vintage cameras.

Welcome Matt

Had a look at your site - realy nice - easy to navigate.

Some really superb pictures.

Your business sounds like mine - bread butter is weddings with a bit of other stuff thrown in.

How long do you spend in the darkroom or have you found yourself using it less and less.

Keep posting.

I still use it as much as I used to (pre-DSLR). Most of my personal work is BW film, and I don't trust anyone else to develop it. I don't even know where to find a lab that still offers real gelatin silver prints. Even before my business went digital I was mainly shooting color film for clients, so I used a pro lab. Occasionally I still get a client that wants their wedding or portrait done with BW film, and wants gelatin silver prints. I'll throw in a few rolls of BW 120 for no extra charge if the bride is interested.
