The first one is the better one in my opinion...
although I am not 100% sure on what it is exactly..I'm thinking maybe water and a reflection from some sticks or rocks maybe?

Yeah I had figured that...actually it is great to see them side by to compare the noise differences....great idea! :)

The ISO 1600 should have had 4 sec to give the same exposure as 16 sec at ISO400 assuming the aperture was the same.

I actually thought that at the time, but said "sod it"

I don't know if digital suffers from reciprocity law? 1600 iso will always give higher noise
