Hi All,

O.k i have calibrated my pc with stemmys spyder (ta very much)

It was simple to install even for me :-)

Everything is a tad darker now - but bazza tells me this is normal so i guess its just a matter or readjusting my eyesight to accomadate.

Anyway i am posting a wee pic just to see what it looks like for a bit of a group colour test. So here goes let me know if it looks too dark on your screen o.k as i think it is a bit :-)

Cheers

Nope it looks brilliant to me (but then, my monitor isn't callibrated with spyder, just PS callibration wizard) So I guess this opinion doesn't really count for much

Cheers Jon,

Hmmm im resisting the urge to lighten it a bit.

There is quite a difference now after i have calibrated im quite surprised. It feels like im wearing sunglasses. I may have to get a few prints done i think to convince myself.

nice flower, it does look a little dark on this machine, not too much though.. the bottom few petals are a little soft if it were me and you can disagree then I would be tempted to lighten it... then again Im waiting on the spyder to do my machines

It looks OK on both my profiled monitors (done with spyder) but as I don't know the colour of the flower I can't say how accuate it is.

It looks a tad dark on my screen but it could well be the exposure wasn't spot on in the first place with that strong light in the background.

In fairness to Mags it really is a waste of time anyone who does not have a profiled monitor commenting.
Unprofiled monitors usually are too cool, to contrasty and if a LCD too high a back light.
It amazes me people spend thousands on cameras and lenses but begrudge just over £100 to see the results properly.

now gets off hobby horse:stir::stir:

Also some systems won't see the profile of web pics either.

yes its very tricky isn't it.

How can you comment on the effectiveness of a calibrator when looking at an uncalibrated monitor.

All I know is that my colours are miles better now, and your right i did have my monitor too bright. I think its automatic that you think the brighter the image the better it looks.

Being an expert in the flower department, and knowing the species of gerbera well i can say that your colour is spot on, its the perfect pink, a little darker in centre but i think thats lighting more than anything else looking around the image.

Calibrated with spyder too, but couldnt get the little hairy turd to sit that still on monitor.

O.k thanks everyone, your right Stemmy i am programmed to think brighter is better. And as your an expert flowerman bazza with a calibrated screen yourself it must be o.k :thanks:

Its the same scenario with these constant tv adverts for the benefits of owning a HD television...How are they supposed to convince me to go out and buy one when the picture their showing me looks no different to the picture I normally get on my tv?
