I entered my first picture to mono only yesterday. I would like to send in some more but every time I click on submit I get the unable to open page message.
My pictures have been reduced to correct file size (800 x 600) but still no joy.
Wonder if I am doing something wrong or is the site down at the moment.

Hi Jim.
I assume your adding image as an attachement rather than linking from your site, if so are you making sure the actual filesize is below the recommended size.
I sometimes find that the 800x600 still produces an image to big to add as an attachement, so what i do is when saving i drop the quality down to around an 8 or a 9 to lower filesize and usually it uploads no problem. (when ur saving as a jpeg u should get a slider for quality, just knock it down a bit, if your using photoshop)
Other thing too, the attachments window could be classed as a popup, do you have a pop up blocker at all that might be stopping the page being displayed.
ps, just uploaded a pic to see and everything seems to be working.

Thanks for your information Barry. Unfortunately I still have the same problem.
File size is now down to 705 x 529 and is only 83.5kb but still says page cannot be displayed when I click on upload.
I have disabled pop up blocker.
I don't have a web site and am trying to send as attachment.
Can't understand what's wrong as my first effort yesterday went without any snags.

Ah...its a bitmap image Jim...not a jpeg...it was also larger than the 160kb's it has to be to upload onto the forum...
I've converted it to a jpeg and I'll have a go at posting it here to see if thats the problem...:)
If it works..just right click and save then you can repost it where you want it...

Look like we have found your problem Jim...when you save your files save them as jpegs if you want to post them on the forum...I know that technically you can pst bitmaps on the forum but I've never had any luck with them...martin (aka stemmy) might know why this is?...
The file size also has to be below 160kb's for it to post also...
if you are still having troubles drop me an email or a private message and we will get it sorted for you :)

Thanks very much for your kind attention and I have saved the picture you posted and am trying to repost in the same format now.
The trouble must be in my own computer because everything is still the same.
I have hundreds of images stored and I only ever save them in jpeg. I have never used bitmap.
Never had a problem before in posting any pictures.
I also changed my avatar yesterday and that was no problem.
I wonder if anyone else has had this trouble and can advise me on any computer settings that need altering. (XP Home edtn)
Thanks again.

Hi Jim
Have u maybe saved preferences somewhere as a bitmap and not a jpeg, what editing software are you using.

Hi Jim
Have u maybe saved preferences somewhere as a bitmap and not a jpeg, what editing software are you using.
I use Roxio EMC 7.5 for all my digital imaging and always save as jpeg.
Every picture I have is shown as jpeg.
Each picture I have tried to upload has been resized to below the maximum permitted size to no avail. Still says this page cannot be displayed.
Going out for a meal now and will mull it over.

Have just restored my computer to a date before I joined this forum hoping it might rectify any settings changes.
I then tried again to upload a picture.
What a mess!
When I clicked on upload I was bombarded with a continuous opening of IE pages which I could not stop.
In all there were 62 windows open, all of them showing this forums welcome page until the computer froze and I shut it down.
Something drastic here so I can't think of any other way to continue in this forum unless anyone can help.
Thanks to all of you that have been kind enough to help.

must be going around-
sounds like you've got a virus or trojan or whatever that you're going to have to get rid of-
I would make sure the antivirus program is up-to-date and run it-
also, if you can get to it, download firefox and use it as your browser or keep it available as an alternative-
hope that helps-
I'm definitely no expert in this matter-

Sounds like a virus thats going around.
funnily enough just for the past couple of days my email scanner has been detecting - and deleting- some emails with virus attached. hasn't done this for months - wonder if its a coincidence ?

My anti virus is AVG and updated daily. Full scan shows no virus.
Spybot updated twice weekly. Full scan says I'm clean.
Adaware updated twice weekly. Full scan says no problem.
Don't have any problems at all anywhere except in uploading these pictures.
Will pose this problem on the 24 hour support helpdesk to see if anyone there can help.
I'm sure you are all cheesed off with me by this time.

Don't give up Jim...I dont know why you are experiencing this problem...
email them to me.....and I'll either upload them for you or get the moderator for the relevant forums to do it for you till we get it sorted..
:)
Btw...have you tried a host server..like photobucket..and then just pasting the image tag in your post...that would work for sure! If you need help PM me and I'll explain it to you...:)

Thanks Bindii but I wouldn't,t get any pleasure out of the forum if I could not send pictures as and when I want to without going through another person.
I know I am not very computer savvy but I would expect to do a simple upload of pics without any trouble.
It looks more than likely that the problem is at my end even though I don't have any virus or trojan horses and all my IE settings are correct.
Thanks again but I will work on it from here.
Kind regards.

Jim, try downloading firefox browser, its free and is not so bad with spyware etc. Just to see if you can post via that, then we know its an IE issue. Just google Mozilla firefox and links there. Worth a try to try and pinpoint issue.

Barry,
Have dowloded Firefox and tried to post picture.
Similar thing still happens.
Message box appears as follows "The connection was reset"
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web
I have set it to permit Firefox but it still comes up with the same message every time.

Jim, i posted this in your bird thread but il put it here too.
If you have a website and can ftp to it you can put any pic u want to show here up on your host, then press the yellow square box that looks like a postcard (u see the link above this message box when ur typing a message in), put in link to your site and filename of image this also works no problem and might be a way round the issue u have.
