OK since my problems with the lightning last week - I am going to get a ups for the computer - but which one ???

I obviously want it to protect the PC and stop all spikes/brown outs/blackouts etc.

But I do have a TV card in the PC and I cant see a UPS device that allows me to pass a TV cable through it. this is where my problem was last week. The lightning came down the TV cable and buggered the PC.

Please help !!!!

I was looking at one of these but couldnt see the TV socket ??

Ok you've got Surge Protection

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatSectionView.process?Section_Id=201477

and you got UPS's

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatSectionView.process?IWAction=Load&Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=483

If you can afford it.... go for the best in the UPS...

and get a seperate one for the TV and videos etc...

APC do surge protection which allows you to plug in coax to filter the tv ...

We use APC for UPS kit at work (though we don't have coax needs!) - however you need to understand that they are generally based on Lead Acid cells to provide the backup and these detiorate over time, so after a couple of years you no longer have the protection you thought you had - which is potentially a more serious condition than having no protection, as I know to our cost ! That said they work!! Click Here (http://www.apc.com/solutions/index.cfm?segmentID=1)

Another vote for APC, they're the only ones i will use on our kit at work.

I used to be an IT Engineer at the BBC and if they're good enough for them then they should be more than adequate for home use.

But is there a device that will do both - surge protection - UPS and Coax cable socket ?????

Yes you can get just surge protection for sockets including a coaxsee here (http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=221) but you also said you wanted UPS !! Not sure if you can get both in a single device - UPS gives you power and generally smoothes the power out whe it is operating normally (ie not off battery) but I don't know any UPS's that also have coax surge protection in - Cheers Ian
