I wish to take a photo of an oil painting from my dad, I've tried tons of different settings, speed, ap. and iso, but I'm losing out on the rich variation of colours, I've avoided using flash as it just causes too much reflection. So any advise? I'm using the Canon EOS 20D, with a Sigma 18-125. I'm going to try my other lens - the CanonEFS 60mm and see what that comes out like.

take it outside on a dry day, natural light won't give glare or over highlight the lighter areas, thats if you posistion right, :o

Yes I was going to say -
Nice overcast day.
Take it outside.
Shoot RAW.
No Flash
Hope this helps. Post your efforts.

If you like post a smaller version of the image
